What is cord blood?

The blood that remains in the umbilical cord and placenta at the time of birth is usually discarded after delivery. Advances in the medical sciences field have shown, however, that cord blood is rich in Hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) – cells that can change into white blood cells, red blood cells and platelets.

It is an ideal choice for parents who want to bank their baby’s cord blood as an investment in their health later in life.

How do we use cord blood?

Cord blood stem cells are only collectable immediately after the baby’s birth, this means that advanced arrangements will need to be made. Cord blood is drawn from the umbilical cord into the blood collection bag that comes in our specialised collection kit.

Medeze Stem Cell’s process of extraction poses no risk to either the newborn or mother as the Hematopoietic stem cells are taken from the cord once it has been clamped and cut. Because the cord blood is collected from the umbilical cord, this procedure is viable for both vaginal and caesarean deliveries.

Why choose Medeze?

Medeze Stem Cell is the ultimate choice in stem cell banking services for the whole family, with services available for all ages.
